Gates called Kusuma “an incredible force for change” in his LinkedIn post he published two days ago.

“I met an incredible force for change on my trip to India: Kusuma K, a remarkable young woman who is creating miracles in her local postal department,” he wrote, adding, “India has been at the forefront of developing digital public infrastructure to… to accelerate inclusive financial development.” This will enable branch postmasters like Kusuma K to use smartphone devices and biometrics to offer banking services to customers across India,” writes Bill Gates.

The billionaire also shared a picture of Kusuma K with a link to a video of the Bangalore branch postmaster speaking about the impact of digital banking in her community.

India Post Payments Bank provides digital banking services such as cash withdrawals, deposits, remittances and utility payments to 70 million people and counting, according to the Gates Foundation website.

India has been at the forefront of developing its digital public infrastructure, enabling the public and private sectors to offer a range of secure and instantaneous paperless and cashless services, accessible from anywhere in the country. This allows people to access digital banking without giving up their daily wages and increase their savings over time.
