More popular, ChatGPT is expected to go bankrupt in 2024

Bisnis.com, SOLO – Integrated chatbot Open AI, ChatGPTis expected to go bankrupt in 2024.

ChatGPT caused a stir when it was first released in 2022.

The chatbot with GPT-4 technology is electrifying because it can answer questions as fluently as humans.

However, ChatGPT’s popularity is rumored to end soon. This is partly because the company’s profits do not cover operating costs.

Quoted in First Post, OpenAI has to spend up to 700,000 US dollars (10 billion rupees) for the daily operational costs of ChatGPT.

This fee does not include funds needed to activate other artificial intelligence (AI) products such as GPT-4 and Dall-E2.

OpenAI received a $10 billion injection of funding from Microsoft, but that amount was unable to cover ChatGPT’s exorbitant operational costs.

Active ChatGPT users also continue to see a decline, according to a report by Analytics India Magazine.

When initially launched, ChatGPT managed to attract 100 million active users within 2 months.

The instant success of ChatGPT led Google and Microsoft to develop similar technologies such as Google Bard and Microsoft Azure.

But since July 2023, active ChatGPT users have declined by 12%. The number of ChatGPT users jumped to 1.5 billion after hitting 1.7 billion.

This number is calculated only from users who visit the ChatGPT site, not those who use the OpenAI Application Programming Interface (API).

This OpenAI API is also the reason why ChatGPT is rapidly losing popularity. Indeed, many companies use the API to create their own chatbots. As a result, ChatGPT began to be abandoned.

The same report states that OpenAI will make a profit of US$200 million in 2023. However, developing ChatGPT costs the company up to US$540 million.
