Air India announced on July 25 the launch of Upgrade+, allowing guests with eligible bookings to purchase instantly confirmed forward cabin upgrades at fixed prices.
Upgrade+ allows Air India guests to opt for upgrades in premium cabins between 72 and 12 hours before a flight, subject to availability, the airline said in a press release.
Alternatively, Air India passengers can purchase cabin upgrades at the airline’s airport counters upon check-in. With the launch of Upgrade+, Air India has ended its “Bid Upgrade” program, which allowed passengers with qualifying reservations to bid on cabin upgrades and wait up to four hours before their flight’s departure for upgrade decisions.
With Upgrade+, Air India guests get the benefits of the upgraded cabin, such as: B. Increased baggage allowance, priority check-in at dedicated counters, boarding and baggage handling, onboard amenities and a delicious dining experience. However, for upgraded bookings, the fare conditions of the original booking apply, including cancellation, change fees and Earning Flying Returns Miles.
For flights operated by the Airline, passengers who have confirmed booking documents issued by Air India are eligible to select upgrades using Upgrade+. They would either receive an email inviting them to upgrade their reservations, or they could use the Upgrade+ website widget to see if they qualified.
