Winning the Korea Open, Satwik/Chirag celebrates straight in Gangnam style

Badminton News: Indian badminton star duo Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty have added a touch of entertainment to their celebrations after claiming an extraordinary win at the Korea Open 2023 on Sunday (7/23).

This talented couple entertained the audience by performing the iconic South Korean dance “Gangnam style”.

Media Badminton Association of India (BAI) took to their Twitter account to share a video of the Satwik-Chirag duo dancing after winning their third Super 500 title.

Satwik-Chirag launched a stunning counterattack to beat top seeds Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Rian Adrianto of Indonesia in three games 17-21, 21-13 21-14 to claim the Korea Open Super 500 crown in Yeosu.

India’s world No. 3 pair who won the Indonesia Open Super 1000 crown last month, are now unbeaten on the BWF World Tour for 10 matches and have now won four titles in 2023.

Former world champion PV Sindhu was the only other Indian to win the Korea Open title when she beat Japan’s Nozomi Okuhara in 2017.

Since their association, Satwik and Chirag have won numerous titles, including Commonwealth Games gold, Thomas Cup gold, a bronze medal at the World Championships and victories in the Super 300 (Syed Modi and Swiss Open), Super 500 (Thailand and India Open), Super 750 (French Open) and Indonesia Open Super 1000.

The BWF World Tour is divided into six tiers, namely World Tour Finals, four Super 1000s, six Super 750s, seven Super 500s and 11 Super 300s. Another tournament category, the BWF Tour Super 100 tier, also offers ranking points.
