Parupalli Kashyap lost in the first round of the 2023 Canada Open

Badminton News: Indian men’s doubles duo Krishna Prasad Garaga and Vishnuvardhan Goud Panjala entered the second round with a straight two-game victory, but former Commonwealth Games champion Parupalli Kashyap was knocked out of the Canada Open World Tour Super 500 badminton tournament.

World No. 37 couple Krishna and Vishnuvardhan, who finished runners-up at the 2021 Orleans Masters and 2022 Syed Modi International, recorded an easy two-match win 21-14, 21-16 over Chinese Taipei’s Chen Zhi Ray and Lu Chen in the round of 16 on Wednesday (5/7) evening local time.

The young Indian pair will now face Indonesian second seeds, Mohammad Ahsan and Hendra Setiawan who qualified for the Round of 16 by beating United States representatives, Chen Zi Yi/Presley Smith in back-to-back matches 21-14, 21-13 in just 24 minutes.

Former world No. 6 Parupalli Kashyap, however, lost steam after winning his first men’s singles qualifying match.
