Economy Minister Habeck travels to India

Economy and Climate Protection Minister Robert Habeck traveled to India on Wednesday for a three-day visit. The ministry announced this on Monday in Berlin.

This should especially be about trade, energy and climate policies. Germany’s partnership with India must be deepened. The background is also efforts to expand supply chains and reduce dependence on China.

The volume of trade between Germany and India has recently increased. Germany is India’s most important trading partner in the EU and India is Germany’s most important trading partner in South and Southeast Asia. According to the ministry, India also has great potential for the expansion of renewable energy.

Habeck held political talks in New Delhi on Thursday, and also had an economics conference there. Business talks and visits to companies in Mumbai are planned for Friday before the minister attends the G20 energy ministers meeting in Goa on Saturday. India currently holds the presidency of the G20 of the leading industrial and developing nations.

According to the ministry, Habeck will be accompanied by a delegation of Bundestag members and economic representatives.
