Badminton News: With his sensational victory at the Canada Open World Tour Super 500 tournament last week, Indian badminton star Lakshya Sen jumped seven places to take 12th place in the latest BWF World Ranking released on Tuesday (11/7) .
Lakshya Sen, 21, delivered a badminton masterpiece to defeat England champion Li Shi Feng in back-to-back matches 21-18, 22-20 in a thrilling match on Sunday in Calgary, Canada, for his second BWF Super 500 title.
With 54,901 points for his cat, Sen is the second highest ranked Indian after HS Prannoy, who fell one place to ninth in the world with 67,677 points. Sen is the best player of the last ratings.
Finalist at the 2023 Canada Open, Li Shi Feng also climbed three places to seventh in the world.
Viktor Axelsen of Denmark still leads the men’s singles sector with 101,205 points, followed by Anthony Sinisuka Ginting of Indonesia with 95,661 points and Kodai Naraoka of Japan with 62,063 points.
In 4th place in the world we find a young Thai star, Kunlavut Vitidsarn with 74,898 points, and a Chinese player, Shi Yu QI, who is ranked 5th in the world with 70,554 points.
Former world champion from Singapore, Loh Kean Yew is ranked 6th in the world with 69,882 points, followed by Li Shi Feng with 69,448 points.
