Indian Consul General continues to promote yoga, a healthy lifestyle

MEDAN (News): The Consulate General of India in Medan will continue to promote the sport of yoga as part of a lifestyle of health, unity and peace for all.

This was stated by the Consul General (Consul General) of India in Medan Shubham Singh during the yoga sport activity attended by yoga teacher Anjasmara and Zumba session guided by Tribe Fit at Sampoerna Academy, Citra Garden Complex Jalan Jamin Ginting Medan Saturday (24/6).

The Indian Consul General in Medan has organized a 9th International Yoga Day yoga series which falls every June 21.

The event brought together more than 1,000 people. But in Medan it will be held on June 24, 2023.

Shubam said that in Indonesia, the International Day of Yoga was also held at three places, namely the Embassy of India (Embassy) in Jakarta, the Consul General of India in Medan and the Consul General from India to Bali.

The event also featured various culture and fitness related segments such as Zumba, dance performances to bollywood songs, body combat demonstrations, game shows, multi-ethnic dances from Indonesia and a draw segment by lot.

The main prize of the raffle is a free return ticket to India by Batik Air.

Consul General Singh emphasized the importance of yoga. He also recalled that this year two world records were set for International Yoga Day.

The first world record was recorded in Surat (a city in India), 153,000 people gathered in one place to practice yoga on June 21, 2023.

That same day, in New York, at the United Nations, another world record was set. People from 135 nationalities gathered to practice yoga during Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the United States.

The yoga activity brought together, among others, the consul general, honorary consuls of friendly countries, government officials in Medan and people who are enthusiastic about participating in yoga.

The theme of the event is “Yoga for Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam”. “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” means the world is one family.

The event was supported by Medan City Tourism Board, Nirvana Yoga, Sampoerna Academy, many yoga studios in North Sumatra and many other private fitness and health companies in the North from Sumatra.

The theme for this year’s celebration is “Yoga for Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam”. Singh called Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam meaning “The world is one family”.

“This theme is very relevant in today’s world, where we are increasingly interconnected.

Yoga can help us connect with ourselves, with each other, and with the world around us.

Yoga can also help us reduce stress, improve our physical and mental health, and promote peace and harmony,” Singh said.

Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam is also the theme of India’s G20 Presidency. That is to say “One Earth, One Family, One Future”.
