Long term impact

According to a Cambridge University study, climate change increases the likelihood of a heat wave in India by up to 100 times. Up to 90% of India is vulnerable to the health effects of extreme heat.

“Long-term projections indicate that India’s heat wave could exceed the survival threshold for healthy and protected humans by 2050,” the study said.

In addition to human health, heat waves in India can also cause power outages, increase air and dust pollution, and increase ice melt in northern India.
