He added that more announcements are expected in the future as India emerges as a key partner in the global electronics and semiconductor value chains.

“This is just the beginning as there is more to come as India rapidly grows into a significant and trusted partner in the global electronics and semiconductor value and supply chains,” he added.

Idaho-based Micron on Thursday confirmed the semiconductor assembly and test facility in Sanand, Gujarat, where it will invest $825 million over two phases of the project for a total investment of $2.75 billion, including government incentives in the framework of the PLI program.

In the first phase, the 500,000-square-foot facility will begin production later this year, and the second phase will begin in the second half of this decade.

The facility will be used for the assembly and testing of DRAM and NAND flash modules and the project will create 5,000 direct and 15,000 indirect jobs in the community.

“Micron’s new facility will enable the assembly and test manufacture of DRAM and NAND products and will meet the demand in domestic and international markets.”
