Citi on Thursday appointed Bhanu Vohra as head of commercial banking operations in India and said he will be responsible for Citi Commercial Bank (CCB) operations here.
Vohra, who will be based in Mumbai, will report to Ashu Khullar, CEO of Citi India, and Rajat Madhok, head of Citi Commercial Bank Asia Pacific, the foreign lender said. Vohra replaces Tushar Vikram, who is now global head of healthcare for CCB, the bank said.
Citi Commercial Bank’s business addresses the banking and financial services needs of emerging large and mid-sized companies.
The business focuses on supporting customers in the healthcare, chemical, consumer, technology and industrial segments, among others.
Vohra, a Chartered Accountant, joined Citi in 2000 and was previously Country Head of the Global Subsidiaries Group in Citi’s Banking Capital Markets and Advisory business.
Earlier this month, domestic private lender Axis Bank completed the acquisition of the consumer business of Citibank India and the consumer business of its non-bank finance arm Citicorp Finance (India) Ltd for Rs 11,603 crore.
