An Indian restaurant has opened in La Charité-sur-Loire

At 27, rue du Général-Auger, the new Maison du Kerala restaurant has been offering traditional Hindu cuisine for several days.

Two friends, Arun Chilleliparambil and Cristo Babu, from the same region of India, had the idea to open this place in the Loire city. They have known each other for ten years, Christo has been living at La Charité-sur-Loire since 2015.

“Paris is too complicated and too expensive. And then here, a bit like our hometown, there is a good atmosphere, people are friendly”, explains Arun who, having been a cook in India then in Paris, is now leading the way behind it. Charitois Stove.

Next summer terrace

The menu based on chicken and rice includes, three vegetarian dishes as well, and while we certainly won’t discover all the diversity of flavors from this nearly continent, we will appreciate the cuisine of the native region that gives the restaurant its name: Kerala.

Maxime was one of the first to come there: “Successful and fun, traditional atmosphere and modern setting. And it’s great to see Ile du Faubourg come to life”.

Indeed, the old charcuterie, closed since 2013, has been re-invested. Pedestrians now have much better circulation on rue du Général-Auger and you can park easily just a stone’s throw away.

The two friends plan to expand the menu to other areas of their country and a backyard patio is planned for next summer.
