Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —
The injury to the right ankle suffered by Siti Fadia Silva do it and Apriyani Rahayu to move back India Open which begins on January 17.
Fadia was injured while competing against Chen Qing Chen/Jia Yifan in the Malaysian Open 2023 semi-final. The incident happened at the start of the second match and Fadia had to use a wheelchair to get out of the ground.
“According to the BWF doctor’s report, Fadia suffered ligament sprain in his right ankle. Thus, Apri/Fadia has decided to withdraw from India Open 2023 which starts next week.”
“Furthermore, Fadia will undergo further examination in Jakarta to determine the severity of his injury. Then focus on recovery and healing,” PBSI wrote on his official account.
In January, the BWF Tour 2023 starts again. This month there is a series of three tournaments, namely Malaysia Open in the Super 1000 category, Indian Open in the Super 750 category and Indonesia Masters in the Super 500 category.
The Indonesia Masters will take place from January 24-29. Thus, Fadia/Apri’s participation in the tournament depends on the conditions after further consideration in Jakarta.
Apri/Fadia is a women’s doubles pair that was just formed by Eng Hian in 2022. Even though they were just formed, Apri/Fadia could immediately soar to become the mainstay of Indonesia.
They managed to win the gold medal at the SEA Games and won the Malaysian Open and Singapore Open titles last year. April/Fadia quickly worked their way into the top 10 positions.
This condition has made Apri/Fadia the favorite to become one of Indonesia’s mainstays in preparation for the upcoming 2024 Olympics.
