Eight Indonesian representatives managed to qualify for the round of 16 India Open 2023 which will take place on Thursday (19/1). Here is a list of eight Indonesian representatives in the top 16 of India Open 2023.
After three Indonesian representatives successfully placed in the top 16 of India Open 2023 on the first day, namely Tuesday (17/1), the second day of the tournament, Indonesia managed to advance five representatives in the second round.
The five Indonesian representatives who qualified for the round of 16 of the Indian Open 2023 on the second day of the tournament are Gregoria Mariska Tunjung, Dejan Ferdinansyah/Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja, Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian, Bagas Maulana/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri, and Antony Sinisuka Ginting.
Gregoria Mariska Tunjung successfully qualified for the round of 16 after defeating Denmark’s Line Christophersen 21-17, 21-19 in the first round on Wednesday (18/1).
Meanwhile, Dejan Ferdinansyah/Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja secured second-round tickets after beating Malaysian pair Tan Kian Meng/Lai Pei Jing 21-11, 15-21, 21-19.
Then, Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian qualified for the round of 16 after beating South Korean pair Choi Sol Gyu/Kim Won Ho in back-to-back matches 21-17, 21-16.
Meanwhile, Bagas Maulana/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri successfully defeated Chinese pair He Ji Ting/Zhou Hao Dong in back-to-back matches 21-17, 21-16.
Interestingly, Bagas/Fikri and Fajar/Rian have to come to terms with the fact that they will face off in the top 16 of India Open 2023.
Meanwhile, Antony Sinisuka Ginting also qualified for the Round of 16 after defeating China’s Zhang Yi Man 19-21, 21-19, 21-19.
These five Indonesian representatives followed in the footsteps of qualifying for the Round of 16 of the Indian Open which was preceded by three other Indonesian representatives on the first day of the tournament, namely Rehan Naufal/Lisa Ayu Kusumawati, Jonatan Christie and Kevin Sanjaya/ Marcus Gideon.
