Appointment: Jean-Claude Brunet new Ambassador Delegate for Regional Cooperation in the Indian Ocean region

Prior to this appointment, Jean-Claude Brunet was Ambassador in charge of transnational criminal threats and combating the illicit trade in small arms and small arms. This career diplomat has held various positions in Ministries for Europe and Foreign Affairs, particularly in the areas of arms control, non-proliferation and security issues: First Secretary at the French Permanent Mission to the United Nations (1999-2003), Seconded National Expert in charge of WMD for High Representative for European Foreign and Security Policy (2003-2006), and, most recently, Head of the Department of Military Export Control (2007-2010). Since 2011, Jean-Claude Brunet has held the post of French Consul General first in New Orleans until 2014, then in Munich in Germany until 2017.

Over the course of his career, Brunet has developed specialist knowledge in three main areas: arms control and security issues, United Nations and European Affairs.

Jean-Claude Brunet replaced Marcel Escure as Deputy Ambassador for Regional Cooperation in the Indian Ocean area.
