PBSI explained the reasons after no Indonesian representative qualified for the final India Open 2023.
The Indian Open 2023 final will be held at KD Jadhav Indoor Hall, New Delhi on Sunday (1/22). However, not a single Indonesian representative made it to the Indian Open 2023 final.
The best pitches for the Indonesian representatives have only reached the semi-finals of the 2023 Indian Open, namely Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, Jonatan Christie and Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto, but all three failed to make it to qualify for the final.
Indonesian badminton team manager who is also a men’s doubles coach, Aryono Miranat, admitted that his team failed to achieve the goal.
“The goal is to win two titles in men’s singles and doubles. Unfortunately, we didn’t succeed,” Aryono said in a PBSI statement on Sunday (1/22).
Aryono considered this failure because the level of global badminton competition is currently so tight and the force is very evenly distributed.
“The performance of the players, especially the three representatives who reached the semi-finals, was optimal. They fought hard, but the opponents are indeed better. Our players showed their maximum performance. In addition, the competition today’s world is very tight,” Aryono said.
Aryono felt Fajar/Rian’s performance was down slightly from their appearance and won the 2023 Malaysian Open.
“Fajar/Rian’s performance went down slightly in the semi-finals. They played well in the first match. However, after the opponents changed their pattern of play, they weren’t ready,” Aryono said.
Meanwhile, Indonesian men’s singles coach Irwansyah felt that Ginting and Jonatan Christie’s performance had been optimal.
“Ginting and Jojo have all out in the semi-finals. Both did their best. But the opponent looked better,” Irwansyah said.
