All participants of the 2023 Shooting World Cup have arrived in Jakarta

Managing Director of the 2023 Shooting World Cup or 2023 ISSF Rifle/Pistol World Cup Siswanto said that all participating countries have arrived in Jakarta and are preparing to compete in the rolling event at the Senayan Shooting Range, from Saturday (28/1) to Wednesday (8/2).

Siswanto said the arrival of participants began on January 17. Singapore has become the first country to arrive in Indonesia. After that, one by one they followed up to today’s peak, all 32 countries are in Jakarta.

“Most of the athletes came today. Some immediately tried the field, tried weapons, they also signed up, and some chose to take a break because of the long journey,” Siswanto told ANTARA at Senayan. Shooting Range, Jakarta, Thursday.

Participating countries that came today, Siswanto continued, included Australia, Poland, Austria and Oman. Besides the participants today, the president of the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF), Luciano Rossi, also arrived this morning.

“The ISSF president arrived this morning and he was impressed with the development of shooting athletes in Indonesia,” said Siswanto.

Furthermore, Siswanto revealed that Indonesia, as hosts, fielded 32 of the top athletes. They will compete in all 20 race numbers, including air pistols, air rifles, three-position, sport pistols and rapid-fire pistols, each split into male and female categories, as well as teams.

For Indonesian shooters, this event is also a preparation to participate in the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, and the qualifications for the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympic Games, one of which will also be held in Indonesia next year.

“Because SEA Games XXXII/2023 in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, the shot is uncontested, so some of our young athletes have come down to fight for the RPO (Ranking Point Only),” Siswanto said.

Indonesia is the first host of the 2023 ISSF Rifle/Pistol World Cup series. Based on the ISSF schedule, similar events will also take place in Egypt (February 17-24), India (March 20-31 ), Peru (April 11 to 24), Azerbaijan (May 4-15) and Brazil (September 8-9).
