Visiting India and the Middle East, Transport Minister explores transport cooperation

Transport cooperation between Indonesia and a number of countries is under consideration by the Minister of Transport.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID,JAKARTA – Transport Minister Budi Karya Sumadi will depart for a number of South Asian countries and Middle East namely India, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Qatar. The Minister of Transport will hold meetings with a number of parties to explore cooperation in increasing maritime and air connectivity, as well as to seek strategic partners for the development of airports in the country.


“Our visit is part of exploring cooperation opportunities in the transport sector, in order to increase air and maritime connectivity both at home and abroad, and at the same time to seek strategic partners for the development of airports and ports in Indonesia”, said the Minister of Transport, Wednesday (14/12/2022).


During his 6 (six) day working visit from Thursday (15/12/2022) to Tuesday (20/12/2022), the Minister of Transport will hold talks with a number of parties. In India, the Minister of Transport will meet with leaders of international companies in India namely the Adani Group, which also manages Mumbai International Airport. In addition, the Minister of Transport will also meet with the leaders of GMR Group, a multinational based in New Delhi. GMR Group is one of the companies that manage Kualanamu Airport, Medan, in consortium with AĆ©roports de Paris (ADP) Group of France.

Then, in Arab Saudi Arabia’s transport minister is due to meet Saudi Arabia’s Hajj and Umrah minister Tawfiq Al-Rabiah, transport and logistics minister Saleh Al-Jasser, and heads of Saudi airlines.

Then in the United Arab Emirates, the Minister of Transport will meet the CEO of Dubai Port (DP) World Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, which is a multinational logistics company located in Dubai. In addition, the Minister of Transport must also meet the leaders of the airline Etihad.

Meanwhile in Qatar, the Minister of Transport is due to meet with Qatari Minister of Transport and Communications Jassim Saif Ahmed Al Sulaiti, directors of Qatar Airways and heads of the Qatar Investment Authority, the world’s largest investment institution based in Doha.

At this kunker, the Minister of Transport, Director General of Air Transport, Maria Kristri Endah Murni, and the Director General of AP II Muhammad Awaluddin were also present for this visit.
