Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Moh Mahfud MD and a delegation of Indonesian religious leaders paid a courtesy visit to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 in New Delhi. Prime Minister Modi’s courtesy visit is part of the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs’ visit to India as keynote speaker at a seminar on religious harmony in New Delhi, India.

Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Moh. Mahfud MD conveyed on this occasion the purpose of his presence and of the Indonesian delegation, namely to discuss during a seminar the role of religious leaders in promoting a culture of peace and religious harmony. The seminar was held at the Indian Islamic Cultural Center, New Delhi, on November 29, 2022, attended by Muslim religious leaders as well as representatives of other religions such as Hinduism, Christianity and Catholicism.

Prime Minister Modi, Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, Indonesian Ambassador to New Delhi and Indonesian religious leaders held talks in an intimate and friendly atmosphere. Prime Minister Modi hailed the seminar between religious leaders from Indonesia and India as a good initiative. Prime Minister Modi further mentioned the many areas in which the two countries could cooperate.

Apart from the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, also participated and spoke at the seminar of Indonesian Islamic religious leaders namely Prof. Dr. Abdul Mu’ti, Prof. Dr. Masyukuri Abdillah, Dr. Abdul Mogsith Ghazali, Dr M Cholil Nafis and Dr M Zaitun Rasmin. Also present were the director general of Catholicism, the director general of Christianity and the director general of Hinduism of the Indonesian Ministry of Religions.

The seminar between religious leaders is a joint initiative of India’s National Security Advisor and the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs.
