YouTube drives Edtech in India; ‘Course’ internship program announced

YouTube will support online learning. Many creators will use YouTube for education. It contributes to India’s GDP.

During its Google For India 2022 event, Google announced that the company’s video platform, YouTube, in an effort to support holistic learning experiences and monetization options for various content creators, is launching a new e-learning programme.

In a blog post, Google said the learning program is called “Courses” and involves a group of YouTubers and content creators who will offer online courses to their viewers. These courses can be free or paid depending on the type of course or creator. Some of the creators who will be involved in this program are LearnoHub, Speak English With Aishwarya, and Telusko. These creators will develop courses in academic and vocational subjects in various Indian languages. This program is currently in beta stage.

Why Learn YouTube?

During the event, Google highlighted the fact that many YouTube channels are earning more than Rs. 1 lakh as their annual revenue grew by more than 60% in the last year. Google also shared the findings of the Oxford Economics study. The study estimates that by 2021, more than Rs 10,000 crore is contributed to India’s GDP by the creative ecosystem of YouTube.

Google says that health videos in India have more than 30 billion views on YouTube by 2021. Google also says that it helps hospitals like Apollo and Max Healthcare to create health related content, and it is available on more than 60 health related topics. .

They also say the company is beta testing a capability that would allow a single video to have more than one audio track. This will allow users to access content from various content creators in the language of their choice. Google further stated that it will continue to invest in new features that will help content creators develop more content and give them more ways to engage with their audience and earn more money.
