apples and Ericsson entered into a new licensing agreement after ending a years-long patent battle between the two.
Based on reports ReutersEricsson announced that the companies have now reached an agreement global patent cross-licensing (cross license) with Apple. (9/12/2022)
Licensing agreement includes “global cross-licensing of patented essential mobile technologies”, including patent rights 5G.
This agreement allows them both to complete the dispute resolution process.
“We are pleased to resolve the litigation with Apple through this agreement,” said Christina Petersson, head of intellectual property at Ericsson.

The company said that this agreement also facilitated the legalization of the program 5G license that Apple had banned.
“This is strategically important for our 5G licensing program.” Peterson added.
The agreement between the two is also felt by Ericsson to make them both more productive when it comes to innovation.
“This will allow both companies to continue to focus on bringing the best technology to global markets,” he continued.
For the uninitiated, the dispute concerns 5G patents that Ericsson believes Apple violated via iPhone and other devices.
Apple is also suing Ericsson over what the company describes as “standards-essential patents.”
