Mehidy, author of a century, allowed Bangladesh to beat India and win the one-day series.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz played his first day of international matches and took two important goals. Bangladesh secured a five-round win over India to win the series on Wednesday.

The versatile player hit a record 100 beats and added 148 runs for the seventh wicket alongside Mahmudullah Riyadh to lift Bangladesh from a precarious 69-6 situation and reach 271-7 in Dhaka.

India captain Rohit Sharma played at number 9 with an injured thumb and scored 51 points on 28 balls to scare Bangladesh. India finished at 266-9 after 50 hours of play.

Bangladesh, who were 2-0 up in the final game on Saturday, won their second straight draw against India after beating them in their previous home encounter in 2015.

Rohit, who hit five sixes in the blitz and needed six to win on the last ball when Mustafizur Rahman held on, had gone through a scan after hitting a catch trying to catch back at the hostel in Bangladesh.

Mehidy, who opened the game with his spin, returned for 2-46 as he attacked with KL wicket Rahul, out lbw for 14, and Shreyas Iyer, who was top scorer with 82.

Fast bowler Ebadot Hossain stood out with three wickets, including Virat Kohli (5) and southpaw Axar Patel (56).

But Mehidy and former captain Mahmudullah set the stage for victory by hitting the team’s seventh-highest kick ever against India in a 50-hour clash against an inspired bowling attack.

India’s Mohammed Siraj led the attack after ousting the opener and compatriot Umran Malik, who also conceded two goals, quickly joined in to push Bangladesh to the sidelines.

Mysterious spinner Washington Sundar hit three times in seven deliveries, including lead wickets from Shakib Al Hasan (eight) and Mushfiqur Rahim (12).

Mehidy, who was instrumental in his team’s opening win by a wicket, fought back by reaching his third ODI fiftieth and soon after Mahmudullah hit the 27th half century. The duo then switches gears with regular limits.

Umran, heartbreakingly fast, eventually caught Mahmudullah behind him, but Mehidy kept attacking to hit the last 100 balls of the innings on an unbeaten 54 with Nasum Ahmed, who made 18.
