Ahead of U-19 World Cup, Indonesia Women’s National U-19 Cricket Team Suffers TC in India

JAKARTA – The Indonesia U 19 Women National Cricket Team will attend a Training Camp (TC) in Bangalore City, India ahead of the U 19 T 20 Women Cricket World Cup to be held in South Africa, from January 14 to 19, 2023.

The Indonesian heroines, coached by a Sri Lankan coach, Nuwan Shiroman, departed on December 2, 2022. What’s even more exciting is that the Indonesian women’s national under-19 team will be assisted by coaches and physio from India while undergoing TC till 29th Dec 2022.

“The time for the U-19 Women’s World Cup is only a month away. PP PCI hopes that they can take advantage of their TC time in India with the aim of improving their performance. Moreover, the team national Indonesian national team will receive assistance from a coach and physio from India while undergoing TC,” United Central Executive Cricket Indonesia (PP PCI) daily chairman Abhiram Singh Yadav said in Jakarta on Saturday (3 /12/2022) evening.

According to Abhiram, there are a lot of benefits for the Indonesia Women’s National Team U 19 undergoing TC in India. In addition to having a professional-level training schedule and strong opponents, he said, the character and mental formation of the players of the Indonesian U-19 women’s national team before participating in the World Cup world.

As he left, Abhiram Singh Yadav asked for the goal for the Indonesian national team traveling to India, to which they immediately responded simultaneously to take home the World Cup trophy. “We pray that this noble intention may come true,” Abhiram said.

According to Indonesian national women’s cricket team manager Afie Fiermansyah, the key aspect is to study hard and gain experience in different weather conditions. “A trip abroad will present a different situation and they have to adapt,” he added.

While implementing TC in India, PP PCI collaborates with Bangalore Sports School which has prepared the best cricket facilities and sports infrastructure support. In addition, the Bangalore Sports School will provide accommodation, nutrition and training facilities for Indonesian women’s national team players.

Director of Bangalore Sports Schools Dr. UV Sankar explained, “We are ready to support the Indonesian U 19 women’s cricket team in the preparation for the World Cup. The Genesis Sports School, which is TC’s location, is a one-stop-shop for all budding athletes. We believe that camp on a world-class campus will provide an excellent learning experience.”

After in India, Indonesia U19 women national team will continue TC at Pretoria High Performance Center, South Africa for one week in January 2023. In fact, PP PCI has scheduled a pre-tournament match with the national team Women’s U19 of Rwanda. University of Pretoria.

Before undergoing TC, the Indonesian women’s national team played a series of matches in Bali. In the game against the Singapore team which traveled to Indonesia for the bilateral series, the Indonesian women’s national U-19 team stole 3 wins out of a total of 3 games.

This result is quite encouraging. However, Nuwan Shiroman said there are still many improvements to be made so that all players can be ready for real competition.

“I’m happy with the win in Bali, but we have to keep improving after improving in all aspects. And, I’m sure we can be better prepared for the U-19 World Cup game later,” he said. ***
