This former badminton athlete, born in Surabaya on March 29, 1968, became an Indonesian badminton legend. On February 9, 1997, Alan Budi Kusuma married badminton athlete Susi Susanti.

Several achievements have been achieved, including champion of the Netherlands Open (1989), the Thailand Open (1989 and 1991), the China Open (1991), the Olympic gold medal of Barcelona (1992), the German Open (1992), an invitation to the World Cup (1993). , Indonesia Open (1993) and Malaysia Open (1995).

After the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, Alan decided to retire. Since mid-2002, Alan and his wife Susi have founded a racket production company under their own brand, namely Astec (Alan-Susi Technology).

3. Rudy Hartono

Former Indonesian athlete Rudy Hartono was born in Surabaya, August 18, 1949. Rudy Hartono’s name entered the Guinness Book of World Records in 1982 because he won the All England 8 times and the Thomas Cup in 4 times.

Apart from this, Rudy Hartono has also been named one of the Asian Heroes in the Athletes and Explorers category according to Time Magazine. Due to his age and health factors, Rudy finally decided to retire from the world of badminton.

After retiring, he now runs a dairy business. He also became involved in the sports equipment sector by becoming an agent for the Mikasa, Yonex and Ascot brands.

4. Nitya Krishinda Maheswari

Nitya Krishinda Maheswari Korwa was born in Blitar, December 16, 1988. She is the proud Indonesian badminton player. She played in the women’s doubles sector in partnership with Greysia Polii.

Nitya comes from PB Jaya Raya and is currently a player at Cipayung National Training Center. Reporting from CNN Indonesia, Nitya was the gold medalist at the 2011 SEA Games in Jakarta when she was paired with Anneke Feinya Agustin.

Nitya also won a gold medal at the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea with Greysia Polii, and again with Greysia Polii, Nitya won a bronze medal at the 2015 World Championships in Jakarta. Nitya has currently retired from international badminton competitions.

According to the Badminton Australia official website, Nitya managed to win her first BWF Superseries title at the Korea Open 2015. Followed by the Singapore Open title in 2016. In the same year, she and Greysia Polii are qualified to participate in the BWF Super. Final of the Masters of the series.

5. Shendy Puspa Irawati

Badminton athlete Shendy Puspa Irawati was born in Nganjuk, May 20, 1987. While playing in the mixed doubles sector, she was paired with Fran Kurniawan.

Shendy competed in the BWF Super Series women’s doubles matches at the 2008 Indonesia Super Series, 2009 Malaysia Super Series, and 2009 Korea Super Series with her partner, Meilianajauhari.

Their best success was the match in Indonesia and Malaysia where they qualified for the semi-finals. In Indonesia, they lost to Maeda Miyuki and Satuko Suetsuna of Japan. Meanwhile, in Malaysia, they lost to China’s Yang Wei and Zhang Jiewen by a score of 10-21, 15-21.
