Brussels/New Delhi (dpa) – Federal Agriculture Minister Cem zdemir sees the heatwave currently engulfing India as a reminder for more climate protection.
“The ground temperature was 60 degrees, people gathered under the bridge to cool off. It was an apocalyptic state.” Green politician said on a Tuesday in Brussels. He suggested looking at the situation in India with a view to more climate protection. The situation cannot be ignored. “I mean, you have to be stupid to hide that,” said zdemir.
At least 90 people have died in India and Pakistan in recent weeks due to the heat. Millions of people have suffered from high temperatures since April. While such heat is generally not uncommon in South Asia, it hit the region much earlier than usual this year.
