Xiaomi recently released a MIUI update for its smartphones. The latest update is causing major problems for Xiaomi, Redmi and Poco device users. This update caused an endless reboot loop on several devices, rendering the affected devices unusable. Users have reported the issue on various platforms, including the Xiaomi subreddit and the company's X (formerly Twitter) support page.

The Chinese smartphone maker has noted the widespread online complaints on social media platform X. The company even confirmed the cause of the problem, which was an update to its system app called System UI Plugin.

According to a report from GizmoChina, the update was only intended for devices running HyperOS. However, the company mistakenly rolled out the update to a wider range of MIUI-based phones. This could have caused a compatibility conflict that triggered the reboot loops during installation.

What the company has to say: In the X post, Xiaomi confirmed that it had removed the faulty update from online sources to prevent further problems. For users who have already installed the update and are facing the bricking issue, the company recommends contacting technical support for help.

Xiaomi has also strongly discouraged users from trying to fix the issue themselves as it could lead to data loss if not backed up properly. Affected users who are facing the bricking issue after installing the latest update must contact the official Xiaomi customer service channels for support and guidance. The company is expected to roll out a fix soon to resolve the issue permanently.

The company did not disclose an exact number of devices affected by the update. However, Xiaomi said it only affected a “small number” of devices.
