This Wednesday morning, on Jean-Marie Lustiger’s television, it’s time to concentrate. Behind the scenes of the Catholic channel KTO, hidden in the small residential area of Malakoff (Hauts-de-Seine), the cameras shot non-stop “Le Quiz du Chrétien en marche”, “QCM” for the initiates and for the good word.
This “Questions for a Champion” for and by Christians has been established, since its founding in 2012, as one of the markers of a private channel, available to us on the Internet and on the box, also broadcast in 55 countries and very popular in French-speaking Africa , Indian Ocean and Antilles.
“Which city did Abraham come from? »
“Welcome to the game with confidence and good humor! », says the mischievous Jérémy Côme, host of the new entertainment show, with cards in hand and behind his desk. Before him, three candidates competed on very specific questions regarding the theme, such as “which song by Edith Piaf ends God unites those who love? », “Where is the hiding man whose demon Jesus cast out in a herd of swine? “, or even “From what city in Chaldea did Abraham come from? “.
Miss Crown’s teacher of manners and eloquence during her preparatory journey, has just started providing entertainment, broadcast every Saturday at 19.30 and replayed throughout the week.
One of his assets? Bring a breath of fresh air and good humor, by teasing candidates about their little quirks. “I really like sharing, and that’s why I like this practice,” he said between shots, in a corridor decorated with portraits of John Paul II. With each record, a little family is created, I calm it all down. This is where I enjoy myself and this atmosphere can be seen in the pictures.”
“I was baptized at the age of 20”
The person who worked as a columnist last season on Europe 1, with Julia Vignali and Mélanie Gomez in “Benefit for you”, is clearly a believer. To carry out this role, a sine qua non condition is required.
“Practical, but not boring, jack of all trades, also communications consultant for a large French group and communications director for Fine Arts Magazine. I myself had a somewhat unusual path, as my parents expected me to choose my own religion. So I was baptized at the age of 20. I have been a viewer of KTO for many years, it is a universe that fascinates me because I accept it willingly. Every Sunday, I still train by going to Mass, and I walk once a year to recharge my batteries on the way to Compostela.”
Why did you accept this new role in this very special program? “This allows everyone, especially viewers, to learn things in the form of a game with themes that might seem a little rigid,” he admits. The Bible, the saints, the apostles, and theology as a whole, are complex disciplines. And there, we approach it in a more fun and instructive way.”
“God is humorous”
“QCM” welcomes competitors from all walks of life. “Catholics come from all ages, all colors and all social backgrounds,” assured Olivier Braillon, one of the KTO executives.
For Véronique, an active candidate in her fifties, the arrival of the program’s new ambassador was a trigger. “It was so nice to meet him,” happily, during a lunch break, this former legal assistant turned speech therapist, member of the Paris parish. As soon as I saw him, I loved him, you could immediately see that he had a real religious culture, as well as a great general culture. He makes everyone feel comfortable with his little jokes. Without him, I would not have participated in this experience.”
As a result, he could win a trip to Rome – to discover the Vatican, among other things – or an encyclopedia and a medal. “This show is part of our mission to make religious culture more lively and fun, it is a way of saying that God is humorous,” said Olivier Braillon with a laugh. Some people, like Catholics, are of course loud and constantly whining, but not at all! Faith is joy! »
