United Nations General Assembly President Abdulla Shahid will visit India on August 28-29 and meet senior leaders including Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar and Foreign Minister Vinay Mohan Kwatra.
According to his spokesman, the head of the UN General Assembly will pay an official visit to India from Sunday.
Shahid’s visit, who is also Maldives’ foreign minister, is expected to focus on ongoing General Assembly issues and India’s engagement at the United Nations.
“The @UN_PGA, @abdulla_shahid will visit India on August 28-29, 2022. He is expected to meet with Indian Vice President @jdhankhar1 and Foreign Minister @AmbVMKwatra where he will focus on ongoing issues at the General Assembly and India’s engagement at the @UN,” the United Nations in India tweeted.
The President of the United Nations General Assembly said he was looking forward to a productive visit, meeting and interacting with members of the UN country team and enhancing India-UN relations.

India has always played a constructive and significant role in peace-building contexts through its comprehensive development partnership with countries of the Global South. Meanwhile, Shahid has also visited Tursonzoda, the grape capital of Tajikistan, and met with Mayor Akramzoda Parviz.
