TIMEINDONESIA, JAKARTA – Buddh International Circuit, India recently witnessed impressive performances from two Honda Repsol Championship (HRC) stalwart riders, Marc Marquez and Joan Mir, in the MotoGP event. These two riders managed to bring back valuable experience and valuable points that can increase the optimism of the Honda team ahead of the Japanese GP at the Motegi Mobility Resort circuit next weekend.
In the Indian MotoGP race held on September 24, Marc Marquez and Joan Mir competed against each other on their Honda RC213V bikes. Despite several difficulties on the track, both managed to display impressive performances.
Joan Mir finished in fifth position, a feat which was a big boost for the Honda team. This feat is the best of the season for Mir, who started the race from fourth position. He fought hard to maintain his position, but ultimately had to admit the toughness of Monster Energy Yamaha’s Fabio Quartararo and Red Bull KTM’s Brad Binder who took third and fourth positions at the finish line.
“I am very happy with our performance this weekend and of course finishing fifth is a big boost for us,” said Mir.
“The team and I did a good job of understanding the bike better, as well as the strategy to be fast this weekend. But the race overall was very good and I enjoyed my time in India. Let’s continue like this in Japan.” he added.
Meanwhile, Marc Marquez, who initially took his first podium this season in Indian MotoGP Sprint, also showed his determination to take his second podium in the main race. However, at turn 1, on the fifth lap, Márquez had a small accident which caused him to fall.
However, what must be appreciated is the extraordinary combativeness of Marquez. After this incident, he immediately returned to the track and continued the race from 16th position. With determination and brilliant racing skills, Marquez managed to finish in ninth position.
“It’s still a positive thing. It was a very small accident but I tried very hard to stay in front, but unfortunately I went wide and fell,” Márquez said.
“However, the most important thing is that I managed to finish the race. Overall our pace is very close to Quartararo’s, so I think overall we can be happy with what we have done this weekend,” he added.
This brilliant performance by Marc Marquez and Joan Mir at the Indian MotoGP gives a lot of hope to the Honda Repsol Championship (HRC) team as they prepare to take on the challenge at the Motegi Mobility Resort Circuit, Japan.
