Liputan6.com, Jakarta – Tesla, as the world’s largest electric car maker, is considering which country will host its new factory. The announcement regarding the country that the United States brand will choose will be made at the end of 2023.
As quoted by Reuters on Friday (26/5/2023), the announcement plan was delivered directly by Tesla CEO Elon Musk at an event in New York.
Around this time, reporters from the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) asked the world’s richest man about India’s potential as the location for Tesla’s new factory. Then it didn’t take long for Elon Musk to answer that question. “Absolutely,” said Elon Musk.
Meanwhile, India’s deputy technology minister said Tesla is serious about the investment plan to build a factory in Hindustan.
Earlier this year, Tesla announced it would open a gigafactory in Mexico as part of an effort by the electric car maker to accelerate its global production expansion.
Previously, Indonesia was one of the countries considered as the investment target for Tesla’s new factory. However, so far this plan has not been revealed even though Coordinating Minister of Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan revealed that Tesla’s investment plans in Indonesia are still ongoing. .
