Davies Street apartment is a magnificent residential project by Casa Forma in one of the most sought after areas in Mayfair London. The lateral 4 bedroom apartment spreads across the 3rd floor of a Georgian pottered building with neighbouring well know restaurants and boutiques.

Davies Street,

Davies Street,

The entrance floor leading off to the corridor consisted of a natural rare off white stone with trims and details in bronze these details were also used in other areas to bring the same concept. Melted bronze and silver sheets of metal cladded to feature walls worked in harmony with the ebonized makassar panelling. Other walls were finished in polished plaster and upholstered with calf skin.

Davies Street,

Davies Street,

The apartment was designed and built with a wide range of materials used to bring a lively sophisticated look, with a mixture of stained walnut, ebonised and ebony macassar timbers. Moon onyx was cladded to the entrance foyer walls which was back lit to give a subtle glow of light, bronze trims were designed to frame the onyx as if a piece of art.

The approach to the bedrooms was to keep the space subtle in tones of color creating a textured feature wall behind the beds. There are traces of walnut and ebonized makassar which has been used to design the bespoke joinery. Cleverly designed radiator cases are in all rooms which again are concealed behind paneling. The en suite bathrooms use the same tones of color with rare natural stone and antique gold bathroom sanitary ware.

Davies Street,

With huge amounts of quality craftsmanship and sophisticated materials, Casa Forma transformed the apartment into in a rich lively unique living space in tune to the luxury surroundings of Mayfair.

Luxe and Stylish: Louboutin comes to Harrods

Luxury French designer Christian Louboutin has opened his first standalone boutique at London’s iconic Harrods. Located on the first floor, the stage-like space is full of archived Louboutins and also offers a wide selection from the designers latest shoe and bag collections.

Designer Lee Broom has created this dramatic new store for Louboutin following in the footsteps of other Christian Louboutin boutiques around the world, to reflect the city in which it is located; Broom’s creation pays homage to London. The space features a white, fanned arch-way entrance that acts as a shop window, aiming to reference the Covent Garden Opera House and create a ‘feeling of suspended reality’, according to Broom.Other nods to the city can be found in the tiled walls, themselves reminiscent of that of the London Underground, and white street lamps which illuminate the footwear on display. Even Big Ben makes his presence known in the arched store window, which has been etched to resemble a giant glass clock face.

For the ultimate Louboutin experience, slip behind a mirrored door and enter the private shopping room. Here, the couture crafted footwear is no doubt waiting to be worn by some of the regular Louboutin lovers. Visit Harrods to experience this beautiful space and indulge in the ultimate sole search.

Dream Home: Knightsbridge Apartment Designed by Anna Dodonova

International interior designer Anna Dodonova’s latest project, a contemporary family apartment in Knightsbridge, London, oozes style and glamour.Faced with a brief of making the space feel spacious, Anna changed the apartment layout by completely opening the entrance area and installing a walk in wardrobe and guest bathroom. There is now an open-plan living and dining room space with breathtaking views of London. The 300 square metres property is bathed in shades of white and ivory along with Anna’s signature style of blending contemporary design with timeless glamour. With the clever use of lighting and mirrors, Anna created the illusion of higher ceilings and larger rooms. The white and ivory colour palette is complemented by the use of accent colour accessories and shiny lacquered finishes on some of the surfaces along with fabrics and leathers. From sand touch wallpaper and glass beads to fine studded curtains, the different textures featured throughout the apartment gives all the spaces depth and character. Anna points out that although each room has its own personality, “everything was designed in the same vein to ensure a harmonious balance was achieved”. Anna worked closely with the owners, from concept to delivering the finishing touches.

It is important to make the entrance feel as inviting as possible as it sets the tone for the rest of the house. We made the entrance into a practical, open and bright space leading to the living room area. The large mirror which is also a clock, is a great statement piece and it reflects light making the entrance area feel and look wider. The sand textured wall paper with the vertical lines in the entrance area, corridor and the living room create the illusion of higher walls and ceilings. The white shiny textured ceramic floor tiles were laid out in diamond pattern as it also helps the room look bigger. The lights and lamps in the entrance highlights the furniture finishes and builds the atmosphere.

Living room
The living room is very bright with tons of natural light during the day and city’s lights flood the apartment in the evening. The sofas are located in the middle of the room and face the fireplace making the space cosy and intimate. You can get a view of the whole room with the library located to the left and dining room to the right of the living room area. The cream leather sofas add to the light effect. The sofa design is practical and comfortable as the back can easily be adjusted for more back support. The coffee table has an onyx table top finish which matches the sofa shade. Anna worked with stone to add another level of texture to the room. For the window treatment, Anna didn’t want to overload with too much fabric so she used just enough curtain to give the room the cosy yet light feel it has.

Enjoy this summer in Wales

In a previous post I had written about the Olympics in London and how you can check into some lovely properties which are giving away great deals around that time. Now since we have already figured you will be around the UK, I did a bit of research and came up with things for you to do at Wales as well, starting end of this month. So plan your holiday accordingly. Wales is a picturesque location that is a part of the United Kingdom and is situated to the west of England having a varied and dramatic landscape. It is also quite accessible from London or cities such as Birmingham and Manchester. A vibrant population fuels a cosmopolitan city atmosphere.Cardiff Castle stands at the heart of downtown and Edwardian shopping arcades (Britain’s first malls) house charming one-of-a-kind shops. Wales is home to 641 castles, more than any other country in Europe. You are encouraged to visit them: climb towers, walk ancient walls and explore dungeons. It’s rare to find three national parks in a country the size of Massachusetts. But in the Snowdonia, Pembrokeshire Coast and Brecon Beacons national parks you’ll discover unique landscapes and a world of outdoor adventure.  Royal connections abound and everyone can be spoiled by staying in hotels formerly owned by kings and queens.
