Review: Cavalli Caffé, DLF Emporio, New Delhi

There are some days when you just want to dress pretty, meet your girl-friend for a drink, bitch about your job/ boss/ significant other and have a delish meal. Most days you deserve an award for not being jailed after assaulting someone for annoying you, but on those odd days when you want to dress pretty and have a great meal, you go to Cavalli Caffé. At least I did, one Tuesday a few weeks back.
CAVALLI CAFFE INTERIOR
The Cavalli Caffè situated next to the Roberto Cavalli boutique, at the ground floor of DLF Emporio located in Vasant Kunj is as stylish and fashionable as anything with the name Cavalli on the door should be.The Caffè experience finds its roots in the historical Cavalli Caffè Giacosa, located in Via Tornabuoni in Florence, an antique shop founded in 1815, which was a meeting place for a refined and noble Florentine clientele, which Roberto Cavalli brought back to life, preserving the elegance of the setting. The one in Delhi has been decorated in true Roberto Cavalli style with elements created personally by Cavalli himself; the Cavalli Caffé is a true reflection of his style, complete with the animal print upholstery and animal print lampshades hung upside down all along the ceiling with prints of Roberto Cavalli with various celebrities covering the wall.
Bar, Cavalli Caffe, www.stylecity.in
Anyone who knows me knows my love for a great tasting drink, especially if it is vodka or wine based, well I was spoilt for choice with, Cavalli red wine, Cavalli Premium Italian Vodka and Grappa all available as drink options. Conceived to stimulate and inspire every moment of the day, the Cavalli Caffè offers an elegant and refined menu and the atmosphere enables its clients to savour different tastes in an intimate and classic setting where the cuisine proposes a wide range of traditional Italian products and flavours. We were lucky to try the new menu which incorporates a few not so Italian flavours as well. Before I begin on the food, a special mention to the styling by Chef Kapil, it literally broke my heart to spoil the presentation. We started with Crema Di Pomodoro which came in a bun and looked gorgeous but tasted just as it should, warm and soothing down the throat. We then moved on to Parma Ham and Melon appetizer and Rucola and Goat Cheese Salad with Pine Nuts and Oranges. The mains were Mellanzane Alla Parmiggiana, Burrata Ravioli in Burnt Butter and Sage Chili Caramel Basa with Wilted Spinach and Wok Tossed Noodles. Again those of you who read the blog regularly know my absolute love for fish, that is the one thing I try on every menu in almost every part of the world and trust me when I say, I wasn’t disappointed one bit. Finally for dessert we had a huge variety to choose from; Red wine Poached Fig and Apricot Crumble, Hot Chocolate Foam with a Rum Granita and Chocolate Marquise, ending with Cavalli chocolates. Available in eleven delicious flavours of Walnut, Peanuts, Dark Gianduja, Coconut and Vanilla, Crunchy Almond Praline, Coffee, Cinnamon, Gianduja, Almonds and Hazelnuts, Mint, Chili Pepper, the chcolates truly exude the Roberto Cavalli experience.

So the next time you want to dress up pretty, have a great cocktail and some delicious food, or even step out for a cup of coffee with your girlfriend, you know what we recommend and trust me you wont be disappointed.

Luxe and Stylish: Emilio Pucci debuts in India

A woman, a lifestyle, a tradition. The house of Emilio Pucci evokes a legacy that blends glamour, nobility and luxury.Conceived by Creative Director Peter Dundas, a powerfully reinvented palazzo inspires the brand’s new boutique in New Delhi, located at the ground floor at the DLF Emporio Mall, in partnership with the local luxury authority Infinite Luxury Brands Private Limited.

Emilio Pucci, New Delhi, www.stylecity.in

Tapping renowned French architect Joseph Dirand to articulate his vision, Dundas’ store concept is a play on contrasts: sophisticated yet warm, formal yet fresh. Informed by the classic codes first drawn by the Marquis, the store offers a youthful spin on the brand’s 65-year tradition of glamour and elegance, washing it with a new attitude and allowing the clothes to breathe freely. The new concept borrows from the fragile beauty of Italian palazzos, yet also boldly redraws it. An abstract 3D interpretation of Pucci’s maze-like Torre print from 1966, pattern unexpectedly emerges through graphic slicing. It is also recreated in the two-tone crushed marble Terrazzo flooring inside the store. From brass-trimmed moldings to hidden brass lighting fixtures, the finishing’s are flawless. A palette of creams and soft greys are classically inspired by the Italian stone, Pietra Serena. Gold Art Deco mirrors hint at the opulence within. Sexy, unexpected twists cut into the refinement, adding a modern sharpness throughout and an aubergine coloured carpet and matching velvet daybed grace the privé area in the rear room.

This store concept represents the beginning of a new era at Emilio Pucci”, says Emilio Pucci President and Chief Executive Officer Alessandra Carra.  “We are taking a 360 degree approach, looking at every aspect of the brand, both from an image and a business point of view.  The evolution began with Peter’s new fashion direction, and then our first ad campaign that debuted in Fall 2012. This has been a starting point for an ambitious development plan which is planned to bring significant growth into our Pucci retail network within the next 12 months, as well as an important expansion of our brand internationally.”

Trend Alert: 1990’s Metal and Grunge

Fashion to Décor: Trend 1990’s
While the Fashion world in the 1990’s saw a variety of looks from Grunge to Goth to Leather and Punk, the world of Décor also took a huge leap from the era of retro and pop. Suddenly Computers were seen in everyone’s homes, and the colours in focus in décor were blues, greens and whites with metal becoming prominent. There was a lot of emphasis on Futuristic minimal décor and design. And this year Summer 2013 has seen a revival of the 1990’s in both Fashion and Home Décor.

Designer Lee Broom has created this dramatic new store for Louboutin following in the footsteps of other Christian Louboutin boutiques around the world, to reflect the city in which it is located; Broom’s creation pays homage to London. The space features a white, fanned arch-way entrance that acts as a shop window, aiming to reference the Covent Garden Opera House and create a ‘feeling of suspended reality’, according to Broom.Other nods to the city can be found in the tiled walls, themselves reminiscent of that of the London Underground, and white street lamps which illuminate the footwear on display. Even Big Ben makes his presence known in the arched store window, which has been etched to resemble a giant glass clock face.
