Spectacular victory against Japan representative, Dejan/Gloria wins Syed Modi India International 2023

Jakarta: Indonesian mixed doubles badminton players Dejan Ferdinansyah/Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja became champions of the Syed Modi India International 2023. However, this feat was not achieved easily as they had a tough competition in the final stage, Sunday 3 December.

It was Japan’s representatives Yuki Kaneko/Misaki Matsutomo who were Dejan/Gelora’s opponents in the final of the BWF World Tour Super 300 tournament. The match lasted a tight 95 minutes, before Dejan/Gloria finally won spectacular way with a score of 20-22, 21-19, 23-25.

Dejan/Gloria, who were the second seeds, fell behind in the first match. However, they managed to recover and emerge victorious after looking more consistent in the third game.

The final round victory at the Syed Modi India International today also increased Dejan/Gloria’s record encounter lead to 3-1 over Yuki/Misaki, as noted by the BWF on its official website.

Apart from that, Dejan/Gloria also saved the face of Indonesian badminton as only they were able to reach the final and become champions. In fact, other Indonesian representatives have fallen since the quarterfinals.
