Putin has only four supporters left – in a vote at the UN General Assembly, 143 countries voted against Russia. However, with China, India and South Africa, the three countries the West wanted to win on its side also abstained.
First, things sometimes turn out differently – and second, than you might think. This is now once again a reality at the United Nations in New York. How unanimously will the world community condemn Russia’s bogus referendum on Ukraine’s four territories and its subsequent annexation? Prior to the vote in the United Nations General Assembly, there was strong speculation that this time there may be fewer votes than the first vote in March, where 141 countries condemned Russia’s attack on Ukraine. In particular, diplomats who are pessimistic even fear that the vote could embarrass the West, especially the United States.
