“Governor Shri Shaktikanta Das @DasShaktikanta received the award for ‘A+’ rating in the Global Finance Central Banker Report Cards 2023 in #Marakkesh, #Morocco today,” the RBI said in a post on ‘X’.
Global Finance’s annual Central Banker Report Cards recognize those central bank governors whose strategies outperformed their counterparts through originality, creativity and tenacity, the RBI added.
“We are pleased to announce that Governor Shri Shaktikanta Das has been rated ‘A+’ in the Global Finance Central Banker Report Cards 2023. “Shri Das has been placed at the top of the list of three central bank governors who have been graded A+,” the RBI said in an earlier post to “X” in September.
In addition to Das, Switzerland’s Thomas J Jordan and Vietnam’s Nguyen Thi Hong also received the award for their “A+” rating according to the Central Banker Report Cards.
The Central Banker Report Cards, published annually by Global Finance since 1994, evaluate the central bank governors of 101 major countries, territories and districts, including the European Union, the Central Bank of the Eastern Caribbean, the Bank of Central African States and the Central Bank of West African States, says a press release from Global Finance.
Grades are based on an A to F scale for achievements in controlling inflation, economic growth objectives, currency stability and interest rate management. While an “A” represents excellent performance, an “F” represents complete failure.
Global Finance regularly selects the top performers among banks and other financial services providers. These awards have become a trusted standard of excellence for the global financial community, the release said.
