Badminton News: Former Commonwealth Games gold medalists Parupalli Kashyap, Priyanshu Rajawat and two other Indian players enter the second round of the men’s singles badminton tournament for the Taiwan Open Super 300 at Taipei Heping Basketball Gymnasium.
While third seed Parupalli Kashyap beat hometown players Yu Jen 24-22 and 21-10, Rajawat, who was part of India’s impressive Thomas Cup victory, beat hometown hopefuls Yu Sheng Po 21-16 and 21-15 in round. first.

The 19-year-old from Hyderabad, who became the 2017 Asian Under-15 champion, beat Malaysia’s Selvaduray Kisona 21-15, 21-11 in 30 minutes.
Two pairs of Indian men’s doubles also qualified for the second round.
Fifth seed MR Arjun and Dhruv Kapila were maxed out by Taipei duo Lin Yu Chieh and Su Li Wei before India won the match 21-19, 21-23 and 21-12.
Ishaan Bhatnagar and Sai Pratheek K also had to battle Charoenkitamorn and Nanthakarn Yordphaisong of Thailand before winning 26-24, 14-21 and 21-19.
A day after passing the second round of mixed doubles with Bhatnagar, Tanisha Crasto kept her hopes alive in women’s doubles as she and Shruti Mishra beat local pair Chiu Pin-Chian/Tung Ciou-Tong 21-14, 20 -22 and 22-21.
