Narbonne: Music world tour in 80 tones

As part of the Salon du Livre, taking place this weekend in Narbonne, the creations 80 records for world tourfilm concert about a hundred years Around the world in 80 days by Jules Verne, by the Tropiques trio on Sunday 12 June at 5pm.

VSThe show is an artistic creation of the Patio des developed around a residency by musician Carlo Rizzo, which begins in December 2021 and ends this week with students during his final master class. It is Thomas Abecassis, teacher and musician of the trio Tropiques, who is the origin of this show.

The show retraces the journeys of the heroes of the adventure novel Around the World in Eighty Days by Jules Verne: Italy, Egypt, India, China, Japan, and the United States. Each stop covered in this book is interpreted in terms of a collaboration between the jazz trio “Tropiques” and a guest artist with traditional practices from his home country: music, dance and plastic art. The “Tropiques” aesthetic mixes with Italian tarantella, ancient Egyptian painting, Indian sitar, Japanese butoh dance, flugelhorn from the United States…

The story of the novel reaches us in various languages ​​of travel, illustrated by archival images from the world’s largest museum. This sound and visual immersion allows you to discover or rediscover the epics of Phileas Fogg and Passepartout through an artistic and cultural journey.

The “Tropiques” trio consisted of Thomas Abecassis, Gérald Chateauzel, and Robinson Rouquet. Artists invited to represent various countries were Carlo Rizzo (Italy), Joyeeta Sanyal (India), Alaa Awad (Egypt), Jenni Tsai (Taiwan), Hiro Sakurai (Japan) and JQ Whitcomb (United States). In the first part, the public will be able to attend the restitution of the work done throughout the year by Carlo Rizzo with the students of the Patio des Arts.
