Luca Marini and Alex Marquez ended their weekend prematurely in India. Meanwhile, the Spaniard crashed on the final lap of Qualifying, causing several broken ribs. The Italian collided with his teammate, Marco Bezzecchi, at the start of the Sprint, and broke his left collarbone.
As a result, the two racers were unable to start the Main Race this Sunday. Despite everything, this news is meant to reassure each of them, as they plan to return to competition soon.
“First of all, thank you for all the support you have given me, Marquez informed his fans on Twitter. I’m going home so I can recover as quickly as possible, because I won’t be racing tomorrow, the goal is to come back for the Indonesian GP (October 15). Once again thank you for your attention and see you at the track. »
Words that confirm, not surprisingly, that the number 73 will not take part in the Japan meeting in a week.
In the VR46 clan, Luca Marini has not spoken since the incident, but Pablo Nieto, team leader, broke the news.
It’s amazing that Bezzecchi managed to stay on his bike after contact with Marini… But it’s amazing that he finished 5th in the sprint! 🤯#Indian GP🇮🇩 | #MotoGP pic.twitter.com/SPc0BZsWW2

“We regret to announce that Luca has suffered a broken left collarbone and requires surgery in Italy. We wish him all the best and hope to see him on track as soon as possible to continue fighting with him for the top positions”he announced as both machines from the Italian team were in good form this weekend, winning reference times in each session before losing at the end of the Sprint.
Note that race management, judging his maneuver to be too ambitious, punished him with a Long Lap that he had to perform at the next event he entered.
Marini will also most likely miss the next round in Japan, it remains to be seen if he will recover from his injury to face the Mandalika International Street Circuit (Indonesia) in less than a month.
