Meeting with Japanese and Indian Ministers, Minister of Communication and Information strengthening commitment to DEMM
The Government of the Republic of Indonesia seeks to increase cooperation with various countries to strengthen commitments on three priority issues of the Digital Economy Task Force or Digital Economy Working Group (DEWG) India’s G20 Presidency in 2023. Minister of Communication and Information Budi Arie Setiadi hopes that through bilateral meetings, Indonesia can discuss strategic issues related to the DEWG-focused talks.
“Earlier, we held a bilateral meeting with Japanese Minister of Digital Transformation Taro Kono, accompanied by Interior Minister Tsuge Yoshifumi. Also with India’s Minister of Electronics and Information Technology, Ashwini Vaishnaw, as host. “As members of the G20 India Troika Presidency, we express our views on strategic issues, including three priority issues which are part of the DEWG agreement document,” he explained on the sidelines of the bilateral meeting, at Taj West End, Bangalore. , India, Friday (08/18/2023).
According to Minister Budi Arie, during the meeting, each party discussed issues related to the digital economy. “Our relations with them are very good both bilaterally and multilaterally. “We discussed several issues related to the digital economy,” he said.
The Minister of Communication and Information hopes that this meeting can strengthen the good relations between the G20 member countries and of course facilitate a common vision on priority issues for India’s chairmanship of the DEWG this year.

Besides the ministers of Japan and India, the Minister of Communication and Information said that India would open opportunities for cooperation with all G20 member countries. According to Minister Budi Arie, the bilateral meeting held today was an opportunity for the Ministry of Communication and Information to exchange experiences.
“We always want and must cooperate with all countries, because all these countries have experience or best practices where we can exchange ideas with each other. “We need to learn from each other in several of these countries, on which we will develop discussions later,” he said.
During the bilateral meeting, Minister of Communication and Information Budi Arie Setiadi was accompanied by Secretary General of the Ministry of Communication and Information Mira Tayyiba; Special Office of the Minister of Communication and Information, Sarwoto Atmosutarno; Head of the International Institutional Center, Ichwan Nasution; and Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia in Mumbai Eddy Wardoyo.
