Loss of concentration forces Tommy to stop his steps in the semi-final

Medan: Tommy Sugiarto’s men’s singles campaign in the BNI Indonesia Masters 2023 badminton tournament ended in the semi-finals. In the match held at Pancing Sports Hall, Medan, North Sumatra on Saturday 9th September, the men’s singles born on 31st May 1988 had to admit the superiority of Indian representative, Kiran George with a score of 21-23 , 21. -16, 8-21.

In this match, the player ranked 124th in the world admitted to losing a lot of momentum. It was recorded that when controlling play in the first game, Tommy was careless and had to be left behind.

Fortunately, during the second match, the Thailand Masters 2018 champion was able to recover to equalize. The 2018 Thailand Open runner-up’s positive trend was not seen in the deciding match after his performance declined, so he had to end the match with a loss within 50 minutes.

“In this match, my concentration slackened when I was in front. I lost my momentum in the first game to win the game. “Luckily we managed to equalize in the second game,” said Tommy.

“In the tiebreak my game dropped, I couldn’t keep up with my opponent’s game which was based on speed,” Tommy added.

The 2018 Korean Open runner-up was reluctant to blame the condition of his legs, which had suffered in the previous match. Tommy felt that in the BWF Tour Super 100 tournament he fought as hard as he could even though he stopped in the top four.

“Before, I had problems with my legs. “I can’t blame it and I tried to finish the game,” Tommy said.

With this result, Tommy Sugiarto had to end his adventure in the BNI Indonesia Masters 2023 tournament in the semi-finals. This result is quite good considering that the previous tournament of Xpora Indonesia International Challenge 2023 was only able to reach the top eight.

Last week, it was recorded that Tommy was only able to make it to the quarter-finals after losing to fellow Indonesian representative Tegar Sulistio in a 5-11 position. As for Kiran George, this result allows the men’s singles ranked 50th in the world to qualify for the final of the BNI Indonesia Masters 2023.

Later in the final match, the Danish Masters 2022 runner-up will face Japan’s representative, Koo Takahashi, who in the previous match beat his compatriot Yushi Tanaka with a score of 21-7, 21-17.
