As part of the 2023 Foliesvocaux festival, the show “Le Savetier de Thanjavur” is presented on Friday 26 May at the Diapason hall in Pont-du-Casse. More than 300 people attend, including parents with their children, and everyone will be amazed by the charm.
On stage two singer-actor (Myriam Gagnaire Dominique Lefebvre), present the story of a thousand and one nights. The story is about an old cobbler living in his humble shop, somewhere in India, who makes shoes with the help of his young apprentice. The princess is beautiful, very beautiful, and dreams of a prince charming. A chimera for his poor father who killed himself at work, and who drags the devil’s tail. Then came an annoying grand vizier, who ordered a pair of sandals to be presented to the prince of the country, or rather to the bride. The vizier gave precious stones, which should cover this extraordinary gift.
But adventure will happen, and from carpet flying to genius right out of the amphora, from trickery to the noblest of feelings, the audience is whisked away into this waking dream. Combining references from our children’s fairy tales, between the kingdom of India and the Bosphorus, this story is interspersed with beautiful, simple and catchy songs, smiling. Visual effects come to illustrate the actors playing, storms, starry nights, jumping genies and drifting clouds, golden palace throne rooms, etc.
What a delight this humanist “Savior” is, who, for once, gets us off on the right foot.
