Jorge Martin almost passed out after finishing the Indian GP, this is the reason

Jakarta: Jorge Martin showed himself impressively in the Indian MotoGP series, Sunday September 24, 2023 at the Buddh International Circuit.

The Pramac Ducati Team rider finished the race in second place behind Marco Bezzecchi, winner of the inaugural edition of the Indian GP.

However, there was something interesting after Martin finished the race. He looked so unwell that he almost fainted on his return to the Pramac Ducati paddock.

When he arrived at the paddock, he asked the crew to pour water all over his body. Shortly after, he took off his racing suit and then bowed weakly as he prepared to take the podium.

Due to Martin’s state of fatigue, the Spanish driver also missed the podium interview session.

India’s extreme temperatures are the cause

The reason Jorge Martin almost collapsed after the race was because he was dehydrated from the extreme heat in India.

“I tried 100 percent. I was dehydrated 8 laps from the end of the race and it was very difficult to finish the race. Despite that, I still had a good time,” said Jorge Martin, quoted by Speed Week.

He added that due to dehydration he lost concentration and made a mistake on the final lap, which caused Quartararo to overtake his position.

“Fabio overtook me but I managed to overtake him. I’m second and proud of the team,” he continued.

Hot temperatures in India pose a challenge for many runners. Due to extreme temperatures in India, the race which previously had 24 laps was reduced to 21 laps.
