The Indian Ocean Islands Games (IOIG) Api landed at Antsiranana last Saturday as planned. It has to cross five provincial capitals before the start of games in the capital on Aug. 23, but hiccups are piling up.
Andry Rajoelina, who left for Antsiranana, was supposed to welcome him at Arrachart airport according to information provided by local authorities. However, the initial program was turned upside down at the last minute due to a tight Presidential election. Delayed in Ramena, he bails out at the city’s Manara-Penitra stadium to receive the flames.
The game flames must follow a route through different cities of the country. After his visit to Antsiranana, he was expected to arrive in Mahajanga on Sunday 13 August. She then headed to Toliara on 18 August, then on to Fianarantsoa on 19 August and finally to Toamasina on 20 August. The course should end with a cauldron burning at the Barea stadium in Mahamasina on 23 August.
At Mahajanga airport, authorities realized the flame had been forgotten in a car at Antsiranana. Thanks to a flight connecting the two cities on Sunday, the flames were finally able to be brought back to the Flower City, but the time originally planned had to be changed.
On Tuesday evening, it was announced that the flame would be received one day late in Toliara. His reception at the city of the new sun will take place on Saturday 19th August.
