PBSI fielded five men’s doubles pairs at the China Masters 2023, which is classified as a BWF World Tour Super 750 tournament. However, only Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Marthin and Pramudya Kusumawardana/Yeremia Erich Yoche Yacob Rambitan managed to advance past the round of 16.
Unfortunately, in the quarterfinals, Indonesia’s men’s doubles representatives were absent because Leo/Daniel lost to top seeds Satwiksairaj Rankireddy/Chirag Shetty (India), as did Pram/Yere who faced host representatives Chen Bo Yang/Liu Yi.

Previously, in the round of 16, fourth seeds Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto lost first to Chen Bo Yang/Liu Yi. They are in the same boat as Mohammad Ahsan/Hendra Setiawan who faced second-seeded Chinese representatives Liang Wei Keng/Wang Chang.
Meanwhile, Muhammad Shohibul Fikri/Bagas Maulana were eliminated in the first round against eighth-seeded Chinese representatives Liu Yu Chen/Ou Xuan Yi. Regarding this, Aryono said that negative tendencies tend to occur due to self-confidence issues encountered during competition.
“Generally speaking, the performance of men’s doubles players in the China Masters 2023 tournament comes down to the issue of players’ self-confidence which needs to be improved. This has a direct impact on player performance. “Confidence can be good. But in the next match, it decreases,” Aryono said in a statement from the PBSI media and public relations team, Saturday (11/25/2023).
“From this unstable self-confidence, the consistency of his performance on the field may also be unstable. This may be good, it may also not be good. For this reason, what still needs to be improved is his confidence in itself. Besides From a defensive point of view, it is indeed good, but it is still not tight enough. “That is what needs to be improved,” he added.
“And his unforced errors (unforced errors) also need to be reduced. This is all due to his inconsistent self-confidence which makes his game control and composure also unstable. These shortcomings need to be improved,” Aryono continued.
With the fall of the PBSI men’s doubles players, this means that all of Indonesia’s representatives at the 2023 China Masters are gone. In fact, in previous events in the 2018 and 2019 editions, Indonesia managed to steal a title in the men’s doubles, Marcus Fernaldi Gideon/Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo.
