Indonesia will face India in the final Thomas Cup 2022 at Impact Arena, Sunday (5/15), after beating Japan.
The Red and White team entered the final of the 2022 Thomas Cup after eliminating Japan 3-2, which is one of the candidates for this year’s championship.
Indonesia’s narrow victory over Japan was won in spectacular fashion in the semi-final on Friday (13/5).
In this match, Indonesia took a 2-0 lead over Japan with Anthony Ginting over Kento Momota in singles and Mohammad Ahsan/Kevin Sanjaya over Takuro Hoki/Yugo Kobayashi in doubles.
Ginting and Ahsan/Kevin both won through rubber play. Ginting defeated Momota 21-13, 14-21, 21-12, while Ahsan/Kevin defeated Hoki/Kobayashi 22-20, 8-21, 24-22.

Japan tried to close the gap to 2-1 by earning points thanks to the victory of Kenta Nishimoto, who beat Jonatan Christie in two consecutive matches, 22-20, 21-13.
The competition intensified after the Land of the Rising Sun team tied the score at 2-2 thanks to Akira Koga/Yuta Watanabe’s victory over Fajar Alfian/M Rian Ardianto 21-14, 13-21, 21-18.
The tie scoreline made Shesar Hiren Rhustavito, who played in the final, the deciding factor in Indonesia’s victory. Vito defeated Kodai Naraoka 21-17, 21-11.

In the final of the Thomas Cup 2022, Indonesia will face India, who won 3-2 against Denmark.
India won over Denmark with points awarded by the doubles of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy/Chirag Shetty, Srikanth Kidambi and Prannoy HS.
Rankireddy/Shetty beat Kim Astrup Mathias Christiansen, Kidambi beat Anders Antonsen and Prannoy beat Rasmus Gemke.
