Indian twist, for Netflix’s new romantic comedy

“Wedding Season”

GO OUT : August 4th on Netflix

Gender : Romantic comedy

Duration : 1 hour 37 minutes

Official Synopsis: Under pressure from their parents, Asha and Ravi pretend to be a couple for a summer wedding. But their plans ran aground when they fell in love with each other.

Our opinion : Netflix’s summer of love continues with this refreshing romantic comedy. We won’t lie to each other, the story of a fake relationship between two irresistible young people who end up falling in love with each other, we’ve seen it and seen it again … no later than the previous week with “Purple Hearts” Plus! But “romcoms” fans are used to repetition, and this spring review of scriptwriting is easy to watch. Our interest is mainly in the chemistry between the actors, both in their roles, and the charisma of the Australian actress, Pallavi Sharda. Facing it, we find Suraj Sharma, whom you may have seen in “How I Met Your Father” (the reboot reboot of “How I Met Your Mother”), or in the dreamlike “Odyssey of Pi,” 10 years ago. Even if some wanted to call it “Bollywood”, “Wedding Season” ended up borrowing very little from the code of classic Indian cinema. However, there are some highlights of this genre: a bit of dancing, lavish weddings, and real family meddling. After all, not enough to please big Bollywood fans…
