Indian Citizen Fake Visa User Arrested by Soekarno-Hatta Airport Immigration

TANGERANG, KOMPAS.com – Office Immigration Soekarno-Hatta airport in Tangerang arrested an Indian citizen bearing the initials JS for using a fake visa or residence permit when entering Indonesian territory.

“There is evidence that JS used a fake visa or residence permit,” Soekarno-Hatta TPI Class I Immigration Office Chief Muhammad Tito Andrianto said in a statement on Tuesday ( 5/4/2022).

Tito said the arrests took place on January 22, 2022 when JS arrived at Soekarno Hatta Airport from India.

Arriving at the airport, the immigration office then checked JS’s travel documents for completeness. After checking, according to Tito, JS turned out to use fake visa.

Tito said JS changed his identity and barcode on his electronic visa (e-visa). “JS was caught changing identities and barcodes on the electronic visa with a visa index of 312,” he said.

According to Tito, JS has now been arrested and is being investigated further. Tito said JS was charged under Article 121 Letter B of Law Number 6 of 2011 with a maximum penalty of 5 years imprisonment.

“And a maximum fine of 500 million rupees,” Tito said.
