Badminton News: Defending champions India will face Australia, Sri Lanka and Pakistan in Group 1 of the mixed team event at the XXII Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England.
The Commonwealth Games badminton matches consisting of mixed team events followed by individual events will take place in Birmingham from July 29 to August 8, 2022. The mixed team final will take place on August 2.
The draw took place in Birmingham in March. Nigeria then withdrew in early May with Zambia now confirmed as their successor.
Each tie in the team event consists of best-of-five matches that test the overall strength of the team.
Five-time champions Malaysia, beaten by India in the final of the last edition on the Gold Coast, are in Group 4 with South Africa, Jamaica and Zambia.
England, winners of the first eight team events from 1966, are in Group 2 with Singapore, Mauritius and Barbados, while Group 3 includes Pan Am power Canada, alongside Scotland , the Maldives and Uganda.
