Badminton News: Indonesian badminton player, Fredy Setiawan has played a total of eight matches over the past two days to advance to his three final categories at the 4th Fazza Dubai Para Badminton International 2022 tournament.
“Yes, I have aches and pains but I’m not seriously injured so it’s just a matter of getting enough rest between games. Mentally it’s about adjusting my focus from singles to doubles. The way I play depends also from my partner,” Fredy Setiawan said after the game.
Fredy Setiawan and Khalimatus Saadiyah managed to beat pair Ruthick Ragupathi and Manasi Girishchandra Joshi of India in back-to-back matches with a score of 21-13 and 21-19 for the Lower Ranking (SL3)-Standing Mixed Doubles Final Upper (SU5) where they will meet Japan’s pair Taiyo Imai and Noriko Ito in the final match.
Fredy and Dwiyoko then secured the final spot in the men’s doubles SL3-SL4 sector by defeating another Indian pair Tarun Dhillon and Nitesh Kumar in back-to-back matches 21-18 and 21-14.
Tarun has the opportunity to avenge his doubles loss when he meets Fredy again in the final round of the SL4 men’s singles.
Tarun successfully defeated Sweden’s Rickard Nilsson 21-19 and 21-19 while Setiawan easily beat South Korean player Shin Kyung Hwan in back-to-back matches 21-10 and 21-16 in the semi-finals of the Dubai Para Badminton International 2022.
