Indian Football Federation (AIFF) suspended by Fifa because of the intervention of a third party who violated the FIFA Statutes on Tuesday (16/8).
The certainty was achieved after FIFA posted an official announcement on its website stating that FIFA had frozen the AIFF.
FIFA suspended the AIFF after India’s top court dissolved the Football Federation of India (AIFF) in May and appointed a three-member trustee committee to regulate the sport.
Although the policy is not in line with FIFA statute as each member federation of FIFA must be free from legal and political interference.
“The suspension will be lifted once the order to establish an Administration Committee to take over the powers of the AIFF Executive Committee has been lifted and the AIFF Administration regains full control of the day-to-day affairs of AIFF,” FIFA said in a statement. The versionTuesday (16/8).
FIFA is also in constant communication with the Indian Ministry of Youth and Sports and hopes for a positive outcome in resolving this matter.

Earlier this month, India’s top court ordered an immediate election of the president and declared the committee elected as an interim body for a three-month term.
The AIFF elections were due to be held in December 2020 but were postponed due to the deadlock over constitutional amendments.
FIFA and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) have sent a team led by AFC General Secretary Windsor John to meet with Indian football stakeholders and submit a roadmap for the AIFF to amend its statutes until at the end of July, then hold elections by September 15.
The result of the postponement means the Women’s Under-17 World Cup, due to be held in India on October 11, will not go ahead as planned.
